Bill who?

I went to Stop & Shop after work with a few colleagues and as I was exploring the aisles (do I want to make a stir-fry or tacos...?) I got to talking with one of the employees. He must have noticed that I was strolling up and down, in need of culinary inspiration, and asked me, "So how was your workday?" I told him it was fine, and that I was new in town and still getting my bearings. He asked who I worked for, I answered, and he said, "Oh, the Carter Center, I know them!" And so I explained, it's not the Carter Center, but it's another organization founded former U.S. President, so I can understand the mix-up. I walked toward the Asian section, and he came by and asked, "So do you monitor elections, too?" I said no, we focus on health issues. Then he asked me, "So, do you know Bill?" I laughed and said, "No, we haven't been in any meetings yet." He shook his head, and said, "But I know Bill, he runs everything at that office!" I then realized he was talking about a senior person in the Ministry where I work, NOT our former president and head of the foundation. I can't wait to tell Bill that his local supermarket clerk was far more excited about my knowing him than president Bill.

Speaking of things presidential, my colleagues and I are eager to see how Super Tuesday shakes out. We considered watching some of the results come in, then remembered the time difference. I was excited to read that both Chelsea and Hillary had been in Worcester within the past week, but sorry to have missed the opportunity to see them!

Oh, and a shameless family plug -- my brother's band was profiled in our hometown paper today -- check it out: http://www.telegram.com/article/20080205/COLUMN14/802050519/-1/eworcester

That is hilarious. Poor Big Bill, taking a back seat to Jimmy Carter and Bill the Guy in Your Office.
