The littlest ambassador

It's pretty late here and I'm exhausted, but I had to post this story before the day was over -- it's just too great! The past couple of days I've been helping to create a presentation that my boss here was recently asked to make to Liberia's Cabinet. We've gone through several drafts, and for whatever reason, we've been building the slideshow on my computer. Despite the fact that we had the presentation saved on a flash drive, when it was time to leave for the Cabinet meeting, my boss asked me to join him and bring the computer just in case.

We arrived a bit early and there weren't too many people in the room yet. As it started filling up and there was still no computer connected to the projector, I decided I should set mine up, so that we didn't delay things later by needing to assemble everything immediately before our turn. Soon after we were ushered out to the lounge to wait to be called back in.

A little bit later, we were brought into the room, and the President of Liberia was seated at the head of the table! I had to act as if walking by her were completely normal, and take my (highly esteemed) place at the other end of the table to hit the arrow keys on the computer and run through the slides for my boss (I seem to recall playing a similarly administrative function during a presentation to the president of MTV -- not sure why I end up in these spots).

Everything went well, and after showing the last slide I closed out of powerpoint. I had forgotten that I had recently put a new photo up as the background on my computer, and the President and her entire cabinet were treated to a picture of the most adorable tiger hat-wearing boy ever -- my Godson Isaiah! Even better, the next group on the agenda was going to need my computer, so the little guy got more screen time in a room full of Liberian government officials. I'm thinking this may mean he has a bright future in politics ahead of him...

Shut UP! That is hilarious. Were they all suitably impressed by the cuteness? I actually do think that shot is so cute that it could bring about world peace: tiger hat + dimple = international cooperation.

As you might guess, I am completely biased in the fact that this is an adorable picture of an adorable grandson with an adorable hand made hat by his adorable aunt all made more wonderful by your story. I hope you are doing well. Love Cathy Shannon

FYI I met my mom for lunch yesterday and we discussed the president of Liberia since she was in the Japanese news for some reason recently...

I hope this doesn't come back to haunt him if he ever applies for a job with the CIA. I have a feeling he will have some explaining to do when this picture appears in his file; they'll want to know about his ties to the liberian gov't!

Isaiah's daddy

P.S. Did anyone in the room comment on his cuteness?
