Thinker's Beach

I wasn't sure how I was going to spend my Sunday, but the good thing about moving among a small group of people here is that there's always a plan brewing that you can be part of. This afternoon's plan was the beach, and six of us went out to Thinker's Beach, about 15 minutes beyond where we Hashed yesterday (the layout of the city is beginning to make sense...). Admission to the beach was $1, which we gladly paid to get a patch of sand, chairs and an umbrella.

The beaches here are really wonderful. Despite a pretty strong undertow, the experience is still quite pleasant. The sun beats down on you pretty hard, but there's always a good breeze going, so the heat isn't overwhelming. And when you decide it's time to head into the water, you're not chilled by the Atlantic, but rather you're pulled right in by its warmth. It's really quite something for someone who grew up going to the beach in Maine and Rhode Island.

I'm going to post a couple shots from the beach and a few more from our drive home. It seemed like a good time to take some pictures of the city and some of the sites we've started passing regularly.

For the record, it is -17 today with the windchill, and it's been snowing since I woke up. I am intensely jealous of your beach-going.

So much beach time for a girl who can barely muster up the desire to go in America! (Lake Easgles Mere the obvious excedption!)
